TOURING SHOWS

Touring Shows takes live theatre performances to schools and community venues across Missouri and Illinois. Each 45-60 minute performance is developed with specific grades/ages in mind and includes a study guide for teachers as well as a 15-minute talk back with the cast and crew.

Performance Space

These shows are designed to be presented in most open spaces such as multipurpose rooms, gymnasiums and theatre auditoriums. No special lighting or sound equipment required.

Performance Enrichment

Touring productions are accompanied by educational study guides with pre- and post-performance activities designed to enlighten educators and students.

Educational Development

The performance experience can be used to develop activities that:

  • Develop the imagination 

  • Simulate further practice in writing comprehension, and oral skills

  • Foster interest in participation in the arts

  • Encourage the study of history and literature

  • Develop appreciation for the unique artistic expression of diverse culture

 

Things to consider for your booking: 

  • Performances run approximately 50 minutes

  • The touring company performs to an audience size of 250 or less

  • All bookings will need to be booked at least 7 days prior to performance date

JABARI DREAMS OF FREEDOM

Take a ride as Jabari has a dream and enters into the world of his live stream as he meets many prolific leaders and role models that aid him to ace his Civil Rights test at school! Follow Jabari through his world of rap, sketch, & streaming as he learns the importance of the leaders that came before him as they fought their way for equal rights and opportunity.

NARRATIVE WISDOM

Complementing SLAM's special exhibition: Narrative Vision and African Arts, this show will explore black art through the lens of live interpretation. Through pieces of movement and voice, the work will explore the compelling inner story told through the face of visual art.

WHAT SHE SAID

What she said... uses poetry, prose, and song to encapsulate the African American experience through artistic works by women of color. This show will explore themes of self reflection and sisterhood as the plethora of works come together to illuminate the culture.

Study guides that provide educational resources for both teachers & students, and an interactive post-show discussion addressing the themes and issues raised in the play support each of the touring productions.
