The Black Rep is the country’s premier African-American theatre, providing platforms for the interpretation of theatre, dance and other creative expressions from the African-American perspective.  We are committed to Entertaining Diverse Audiences, Educating Promising Youth and Enriching Our Community through mainstage productions and educational program that touch the live of more than 60,000 people each year.

Hip Hop Aesop Jazzed, Bopped, and Beat-Box

Audiences: K-8
A new spin on 10 classic Aesop Fables adapted into the form of a play. Fables include: "The boy who cried wolf", "The Tortoise and the Hare", "The Bee and Jupiter" just to name a few! This production offers children the opportunity to see there are consequences to actions in a most entertaining and thought provoking way.
 
Moses and the Red Sea and Other Stories
Adapted by Tracy D. Holliway-Wiggins
Audiences: K-8
An adaptation of favorite Bible stories made modern to uplift and inspire. The presentation includes singing, dancing, and audience participation. Familiar stories such as: Noah's Ark, Jesus Feeding the Multitudes, Moses and the Red Sea, and Jonah and the Whale are brought to life for all ages.
 
Pericles, Prince of Tyre

Audiences: 7th grade - College & University
Somewhere between the craggy shores of tragedy and the loopy swells of comedy lies Pericles, the tale of a prince, his wife and their daughter, all separated by the whims of fate and the hands of evildoers. 
 
Remembrance of and Voices from Harlem
Conceived by Linda Kennedy & Ron Himes
Audiences: 7th grade - College & University
Veteran actors Linda Kennedy and Ron Himes take us on a wonderful historical and lyrical journey thru Harlem during the Harlem Renaissance.  This entertaining piece is a wonderful way to hear, see and feel the impact of our oral history.
